Meet Dr. Amber Schofield, a Passionate Mobile Veterinarian

Dr. Amber Schofield, a native of Oklahoma, relocated to Oregon to embrace the beauty of the state’s hiking trails. Since earning her degree from Oklahoma State University in 2016, she has worked as an emergency veterinarian.

Her loyal hiking companion, Ruby, a small but spirited Bully dog, often joins her on adventures across the Pacific Northwest in their camper van, exploring trails and soaking in the stunning mountain views.

The Benefits of Mobile Veterinary Care

Dr. Schofield’s interest in mobile veterinary medicine grew from her desire to connect more closely with her clients and their pets. In-home veterinary care offers a quieter, less stressful environment compared to a busy clinic.

Pets feel more at ease in their familiar surroundings, allowing Dr. Schofield to observe them naturally. This approach also enhances the client experience, as they can remain comfortable in their own homes. Dr. Schofield practices what is known as “slow medicine,” taking the time to provide thorough and compassionate care during house calls.

A Special Interest in Fearful Pets

Ruby, Dr. Schofield’s beloved hiking partner, is a fearful and reactive dog despite undergoing extensive behavioral training and medication. Through her experience with Ruby, Dr. Schofield has developed a special interest in helping pets who struggle in traditional clinic settings.

Mobile veterinary care is particularly beneficial for these animals, as it allows for pre-visit sedation, Fear-Free handling techniques, and a patient approach that ensures they receive the care they need in a more comfortable environment.
